Elementary Art Education
The Gilbert Public Schools elementary art curriculum acknowledges that involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Involvement in an art program can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork. Our highly experienced team of art teachers create more choice opportunities in their learning environments where students are encouraged to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills while following a scope and sequence of learning that meets both objectives and standards.
Our mission is to offer an environment that fosters student independence and creative thinking. Students are provided with encouragement to plan and problem-solve in order to develop confidence and motivation with an overall pride in their artwork.
Our vision is to promote student artists to achieve the ability to develop and implement a visual idea. Our goal is to develop a grade-appropriate continuum of artistic behavioral expectations.
The elementary art education program provides instruction for kindergarten through 6th-grade students and utilizes an assortment of mediums and techniques including drawing, painting, clay/ceramics, 3D art, collage, fibers, and printmaking.
